Nestled inside our powder room, the laundry closet is the ugliest “room” in our house. Hubster thinks it’s silly to decorate an area of the home that is hidden, but I’m the one who spends time staring at these boring walls and want to start sprucing up the laundry area.

These vintage laundry wringer and box iron images are from the Graphics Fairy. Using the collage canvas option in Fotor, I arranged the graphics and added typography. I printed my new images on white paper and slipped them into frames. The black picture frames were $3 at the local dollar store.

Of course, it would have looked even better if I used a large frame and a 8″x10″ mat. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade…

Custom Wine Label Wall Art

Yesterday, I showed you my image transfer flop. This project has been in the works for years, and I’m so happy to finally have it done and up on the wall.  I took photos of the project last night so the lighting was awful.

I created the wine labels using the a free online photo editor, Fotor. I had to resize them before I printed them onto off-white craft paper. On Saturday, I found the picture frame at Michael’s. It was on sale for 40% off the original price, and my teacher discount gave me an additional 15% off the sale price.

Custom Wine Label Wall Art Flop

When Hubster and I first married, I sketched plans for custom wine labels. About 18 months ago, I purchased and painted the wooden plaques and designed/printed the labels. Unfortunately, this project has been on the back burner for well over a year.

Finally, I dusted off the plaques and my project resulted in a big FLOP! My images ended up slightly wrinkled and discolored. My paper started to shrink as soon as I put the Modpodge transfer medium on it. 😦

Don’t worry… I’m currently working on another fix.

Guest Room Blossom Triptych

A few years ago in the gardens at Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran, Scotland, I took photographs of the gorgeous flowers just after a rainstorm.

Our guest room was desperately in need of a focal point above the bed. Afterall, the accent wall is the boldest color I’ve ever painted on a wall!

I decided that some of the blooms would be perfect wall art for our home, so I ordered 8″x10″ photos and added them to white floating picture frames. Going with the straight lines of the headboard, Hubster and I mounted them in a simple arrangement.

French Chic Wall Art for Ensuite Bathroom

Perhaps you remember the French Chic (Monogram) Wall Art I made for our family room. When I created it, I immediately planned to create more pieces in the same style (Mom, I know I still owe you and Dad a monogram one…). I’ve had my plan and materials ready, but kept them pushed aside until now.

The Prints:
Of course keeping both poems in their native French, I chose one poem by Baudelaire and another by Apollinaire. The Apollinaire poem was a bit longer, so I split it in half to create two pieces. The text (using a script-like font in grey) created the background image on off-white paper. On each print, I layered Victorian clip art of three perfumes bottles with atomizers from The Graphics Fairy (Thanks Karen!). These images were printed in black ink. Once dry, I sprayed my prints with a layer of clear acrylic sealer.

Framing:
I had thee 8″x10″ bronze frames for my triptych of prints. I layered each print with a white mat that provided a 5″x7″ window for my prints. Once assembled they were ready to hang.

Bilateral Nephrectomy & Definition Wall Art

Some of you may remember that my mother has been struggling with PKD. Today was her bilateral nephrectomy, a very serious procedure. Luckily the surgeon WAS able to do the procedure laparoscopically with 5 small incisions and only one 5″ cut. She was in a lot of pain tonight and still recovering.

In lieu of flowers, balloons, or teddy bear, I made her some more special. Definition art has been a trend for a few years. After contemplating how to show my mother how very cherished and important she is, I was able to finally put it into words…

Wall Prints for Kid Bathroom

I vetoed Pumpkin’s right to choose the colors for the kid bathroom. First of all, it’s the bathroom that our overnight guests use. Plus, we already had most of the bathroom decor from our first house. Since I wanted a new scheme for the master bathroom, the kid bathroom gets the preloved rugs, curtains, towels, vases, etc…

For a year, I’ve had three blank canvases set aside for new wall art. Pumpkin and I discussed a few different ideas that we wanted to paint and hang, but we never really settled on one idea. Pumpkin’s free time has mostly been consumed with football and hunting (like Hubster, like Pumpkin), so this kid intended project was really me on my own. I got tired of waiting, and he didn’t seem to mind.

Bathroom Wall Art

The bathroom walls are tan and the trim is white. Blue, green, and purple (the same three colors that fill my closet, and my classroom) are the accessory colors. I painted each canvas a bold shade; lavender, calypso blue and moss green. I used a toilet paper roll (roll art is all over the internet) as a stamper and added a circle print to each canvas. Perfect for any kid’s little hands, because it’s so simple and easy to hold. The circles may appear white in the picture, but they’re really a lighter shade of the base color.

These painting were intended to be a base. We’re still debating if we want to add a tribal frog graphic to each print or not…. The picture doesn’t accurately portray the colors, due to the lack of proper lighting.
