If I were to describe my furniture taste, it would sound eclectic. Modern and antique pieces. A hodge-podge of furniture can work together if the decor is cohesive in design.

I love everything about antique tables; well-crafted from strong wood with beautiful details, intricately carved in legs, a hidden leaf, and imperfections that whisper their secrets. To think I found this one on a whim. We were strolling through town and we decided to stop in our local charity shop. I went to pay and Hubster ran home to get the trailer so we could haul this beauty home.

Recently, my sister had a similar find, but carried her table home… You see, my table is too heavy for the two of us to carry home for a mile and a half up a steep hill.

Once home, it needed a gentle buffing with Old English (for dark wood). Evelyn has some aged company. Now I’m one step closer to revealing my new dining room.

Now time to run off and make a late dinner to eat in our dining room!!!

On the way to a friends house, I decided to stop at the B Green Loft in Bloomsburg. I parked my car, got out and walked down the street only to realized I had walked past where I remembered the store to be. I turned around and walked down the block to the light, turned around and walked back to my car and paused for a moment.  Puzzled, I popped my head into the jewelry store and asked the woman working there my feared question (did it close?!). She informed me with a smile it had moved down a block (sigh of relief!). I trekked down the street looking in each window until I found the beloved store of preloved. The new store was larger (Yay! They must’ve been doing well) and they had expanded an entire wall to jeans. The larger place didn’t feel as boutique-like as the previous location, but I figured they were still adjusting to the new location. I quickly scoured the racks (Hubster and my son were graciously waiting in the car) and came up with a few great finds.

With three weeks left before I return to school, I was looking for things that I can wear professionally and also casually. My first find was a cute little blue bohemian shirt that also has brown, white, tan and red on it. I was pretty sure I could pull this off with tan dress pants and the right accessories (and I was already designing the beaded chandelier earrings to go with this top).

The next top I found was purple, I’ve been buying a lot more purple in the past two years, maybe the great purple earrings Hubster bought me has something to do with it. The top was casual and yet perfect for layering with the next find.

The third shirt I found was a stretchy white 3/4 length sleeve dress shirt with a light purple pattern on it. Dress shirts never quite have the right fit, however this one seemed to be perfectly seamed (I had to).

I swung over to the pant/skirt rack and was disappointed to see such a small selection in my size. I did happen to find a nice side-zip pair of tan dress pants (originally from The Limited, can be seen in the first photograph). As usual, I’ll have to hem the legs up a bit, but they should be good to go.

Of course I didn’t need a bag and donated my 10¢ token to BTE. I left B Green loft with a small armful of preloved clothing and a smile on my face.

Which preloved find do you like best?

We’ve been in Scotland for 5 days now, visiting my sister and finally seeing all the projects she tells me (and blogs) about. I’ve been seeing her life here, and listening to the famous question we hear a lot, “Are you two twins?” The answer is no and yes; we’re not biologically twins, but we’re siblings two years, three months and twenty days apart that just happen to be very close. When we were younger, we’d dress ourselves in matching outfits, talk in our secret language, and finish each others sentences very much the way that some twins did.

A few days ago, we went on a charity shop hop (finally, I got a chance to see where she gets her preloved clothing). Hubster found a nice short sleeve button up shirt for himself. My sister found some football (soccer for the Americans…) jerseys for Pumpkin. I found a cute blue shirt for myself, and my sister (she says “jokingly“) asked for it. I also purchased a new shopping bags during the trip. In the next shop, I found a cute blue/teal patterned tunic shirt and a 3/4 length aqua shirt for myself. I immediately imagined myself hemming the bottom of the tunic style shirt and using the remaining fabric to make a headband, bag, scarf, use it to line… She then asked if I was giving this tunic shirt to her, since I kept the last one for myself. We used to dress as twins, so it shouldn’t surprise me that we would both want the same finds. I thought to myself, “I found it first… but maybe if I do give it to her, she’ll leave it at my house at Christmas…” So with a deep slow breath I detached myself with my favorite find of the day and let her try it on (still somewhat hoping it wouldn’t fit her, so I wouldn’t feel guilty for buying it for myself); it fit her, and she purchased it.

B Green, Be Happy

Last week, I was at a conference in Bloomsburg and I decided to stop by B Green Loft, a second-hand clothing store on my way out-of-town. I had donated some old clothing a month or so before and received store credit. The store just had their one year anniversary on Earth Day. I love the boutique atmosphere of the store and the clothes are all really cute; it’s not a hit or miss thrift store. While scouring the racks, I only noticed one of my dresses (that I never wore, but inherited from a friend), one tank, and my one skirt that remained in the store. I must have been in a blue mood, because I found two blue skirts, a blue dress (with original tags), and a blue baby-doll top. I had $6 store credit and paid $16 cash for my finds. When checking out, if you do not need a bag for your items, you get a 10¢ token to donate to either the local animal shelter or to Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. I, of course, donated it to BTE, having worked there during undergrad. Be Green Loft Preloved Clothes
