On the seventh day of Christmas Young Wifey shared with me her Button Wreath Ornament, Christmas Mouse Cat Toy, Melted Frosty Ornament, Crocheted Fan Bookmarks, Crocheted Snowflake Ornaments, Wine Glass Charms and Glass Globe Ornaments…

I remember all the Christmas ornaments that we hung on our Christmas tree that my great-grandfather had made; small and simple, yet very detailed . I remember a button wreath and think that’s one of the ones he made. Part of my name comes from him and I thought it an appropriate way to honor him would be to make a few button wreaths for our tree.

How To:
Cut a piece of floral wire to desired length. Begin to string buttons in random order, leaving 1/2″ of wire on both ends. Twist together ends and reshape wreath into circle if needed. Cut ribbon and tie overtop of exposed wire. Tie ribbon into bow and shape. Cut ends of ribbon at an angle and if needed dab on clear nail polish or fray check.

Approx. Cost:
floral wire = $2, 3 packages of buttons = $1 each, spool of ribbon = $1. About 75¢ each wreath.

This ornament is a great Christmas craft for kids. These wreath ornaments are perfect to attach to gift tags or slip it over the neck of a gift wine bottle. Pass out as party favors or have your child pass them out to classmates in lieu of cards.

On the second day of Christmas Young Wifey shared with me her Wine Glass Charms and Glass Globe Ornaments…

Simple and elegant as a gift or party favors. Make them match your holiday decor and give them to guests to keep as party favors. Customize them with a monogram and give them as a gift to the wine lover. Create a festive set and bring them to a party as your hostess gift. Kids can help  create this simple craft.

Wine Glass Charms

Wine Glass Charms

How To:
Select a charm and several beads, slide on hoop in desired pattern. Make sure each wine charm is unique to help guest easily recognize their glass. Place a bead of clear drying glue under the last bead to hold them on the hoop.

Approx. Cost of Project:
package of 10 hoops = $1, assorted beads = $2-4, 2 sets of charms = $5, you can make a set of 10 for under $10!

*If you’re hosting a holiday party, hand out wine charms at the beginning as a party favor. Set up a wine charm craft station; arrange little bowls of beads, charms and hoops, then your guest can each make their own wine charm.

Unfortunately all my stemware is in our storage unit, so I couldn’t model the charms in the picture. Remember to check out my blog tomorrow to see what gift idea I’ll be sharing.

2009’s Christmas Countdown – On the twelfth day of Christmas Young Wifey shared with me, her chocolate Christmas fudgerecipe, chocolate bonbons, coconut clusters, cranberry almond bark, chocolate amaretto cherries, pecan turtles, raspberry chocolate truffles, gingerbread fudge, peppermint bark, dark chocolate peanut butter balls, cracked glass candy, and her peanut butter fudgerecipe…

Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends!

30 Days Hath September, April, June and November… 30 days in November. An entire month to reflect on the treasures in life, no matter how large or small. Thankful or grateful, it is nourishment for your mind and soul to pay homage to the great things in life. Some people post what they’re grateful for each day on Facebook, while others write what they’re thankful for on a piece of paper & place it in a jar (a cornucopia of gratefulness) to share with their family on Thanksgiving. We can give generic answers like, family, friends, health & a home, but think of a finer detail. Take a few moments before Thanksgiving to think about the people who are important to you, things that are special, activities that define us, the pets that we cherish, and even things about ourselves.
