Here at Young Wifey’s Blog, I’d like to start a guest post series. In the past, I’ve written guest posts for other blogs and I figured it was my time to include the voices of women. I’d like to start the series by having talented, smart, and beautiful women share something that is dear to them. Many of these women don’t have a blog of their own and I wanted to create a chance for them to share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions. Whether it’s a talent, skill, or personal experience, it’s amazing what we learn through and from others. It’s important for women to remember to take time to support one another.

Red Cat Slushies

Today is my one best friend’s birthday. One year we did a wine tour in NY at the Finger Lakes. The first time I ever had Red Cat was at the Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard & Winery. It was towards the end of our tour on a cold and muddy November Day, but it was still a blast! After sampling wines inside, we ended out at the tent drinking Red Cat slushies. I still have my plastic, color-changing cup and think about that day every time I use it.

Red Cat Slushie Recipe from Hazlitt’s Winery

In a standard counter top blender combine.
375 ml of Hazlitt Red Cat (about 1/2 bottle or adjust to your liking)
1/4 cup confectioners’ (powdered) sugar
2 oz. Frozen Fruit Punch concentrate
Ice (fill to blender top)

Happy 4th Anniversary Hubster

Four years ago today Hubster & I joined in matrimony. Individually we’re not perfect, but we’re perfect for one another. Today we will celebrate our anniversary with Pumpkin. Even though we became a family on day one, we like to focus on the day we officially became a family. Tomorrow, Hubster and I will celebrate ourselves.

The Kindness of Others

One of the reasons I love blogging? Friends, blog friends. Why not making friends through blogging. In my grandmother’s and mother’s time, maybe it was a snail mail pen-pal. When I was younger it was e-mail pen pals. I have friends who even have met their spouses on-line. Why not make a friend through blogging? Strangers that you connect with over the commonalities in your blogs and with whom you develop friendships. When they don’t post you worry. When you don’t post, they notice. I have developed several blog friendships and today I want to tell you about one of them.

Last month, my posting slowed down a bit and I shared a few reasons why. Many of my blogging friends offered well wishes, positive prayers and kind thoughts. One blogging friend took it a step farther. She had just finished crocheting a baby blanket and offered to send it for my friend’s preemie. A kind gift to welcome him into the world. Today, I received the blanket and a heartfelt letter full of positive energy. I cannot wait to deliver the blanket to this tiny guy, who is now over 4 lbs.!  In a world that is full of chaos and craziness, it’s refreshing to know that there are still genuinely sweet people. Thank you for your friendship and kindness Samina.
