For years, I collected all the change (that Hubster and Pumpkin tipped me for my amazing laundry services) in a jam jar.

As soon as I ordered the custom decal for my laundry soap canister, I decided to revamp my tip jar. It’s took me a while to get around to blogging about it. DIY Tip Jar

I followed the same steps as I did before. I carefully cleaned a spice jar from Penzeys. After gluing a drawer pull to the top of the lid, I coated them with oil-rubbed bronze spray paint. Finally, I applied the decal to the front of the glass.

Vintage Laundry Room Decor

Nestled inside our powder room, the laundry closet is the ugliest “room” in our house. Hubster thinks it’s silly to decorate an area of the home that is hidden, but I’m the one who spends time staring at these boring walls and want to start sprucing up the laundry area.

These vintage laundry wringer and box iron images are from the Graphics Fairy. Using the collage canvas option in Fotor, I arranged the graphics and added typography. I printed my new images on white paper and slipped them into frames. The black picture frames were $3 at the local dollar store.

Of course, it would have looked even better if I used a large frame and a 8″x10″ mat. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade…

Turn a giant pickle jar into a beautiful detergent canister for your laundry room.

Two weeks ago, I noticed this enormous jar staring at me in the garage. At one point, it had been Pumpkin’s change jar. I’ve been waiting to beautify my laundry closet (nestled in our powder room) for sometime and thought this would be a wonderful starter project. Quickly, I designed and ordered a decal and gathered my materials (including, one of my grandmother’s teacups as scoop).

Laundry Detergent Canister

Materials:
large pickle jar, spray paint, superglue, drawer pull, and a custom vinyl decal (or glass paint), scoop or teacup

Directions:
Throughly clean all materials. Glue knob to center of the lid and allow to set. Coat the lid with spray paint and allow to dry. Apply decal to front of jar (be aware of any seams on the jar). Fill with powder detergent. Voila!

Years ago, I showed you my Chambord Soap Pump and Disarrono Soap Pump. I hate cluttered bathroom vanities so it only made sense to replace my lotion bottle.

Vanity Makeover - Lotion Bottle

Vanity Makeover – Lotion Bottle

The pump is repurposed from a disposable hand soap dispenser, and the bottle is a repurposed Disaronno bottle.  I replaced the straw with the longer one from the lotion bottle and trimmed off an inch. I resized and printed a French Chic image and Modpodged it onto the front of the bottle and sealed it with a few extra coats.

In the future, I’ll make sure my lotion is purchased in a squirt bottle so my glamorous dispenser will be easier to refill.

Yesterday, I showed you my image transfer flop. This project has been in the works for years, and I’m so happy to finally have it done and up on the wall.  I took photos of the project last night so the lighting was awful.

I created the wine labels using the a free online photo editor, Fotor. I had to resize them before I printed them onto off-white craft paper. On Saturday, I found the picture frame at Michael’s. It was on sale for 40% off the original price, and my teacher discount gave me an additional 15% off the sale price. VineyardWallArt

Have you recently salvaged a flopped project?

Custom Wine Label Wall Art Flop

When Hubster and I first married, I sketched plans for custom wine labels. About 18 months ago, I purchased and painted the wooden plaques and designed/printed the labels. Unfortunately, this project has been on the back burner for well over a year.

Finally, I dusted off the plaques and my project resulted in a big FLOP! My images ended up slightly wrinkled and discolored. My paper started to shrink as soon as I put the Modpodge transfer medium on it. 😦ImageTransferFlop

Don’t worry… I’m currently working on another fix.
See my completed wine label wall art here…

Have you had any project flops recently?

Hide your ugly cardboard tissue boxes with a custom French Chic Tissue Holder.

When I found an oil-rubbed bronze tissue box on clearance, I knew I wanted to customize it. I had resized and printed a small vintage French label from every crafters’  God Mother, The Graphics Fairy. Then, I quickly trimmed it out and ModPodged it onto the front. DIY home decor in under 5 minutes and under $10.

I’d like to find a rectangular, oil-rubbed bronze tissue holder to decorate one for the powder room.
