Happy Birthday Hubster! Pumpkin & I love you!

Confetti Mini Bundt Cakes:
I stirred rainbow jimmies (that’s Philadelphian for sprinkles) into Nanny Florida’s White Cake Recipe. Then, I baked the batter in my mini bundt pans. Once cooled, I filled the center of each mini bundt cake with whipped frosting and added a few more jimmies.

XOXO,

Yesterday was my blogoversary! Three years ago I started my blog. 🙂 Since then, I’ve had over 105,000 visitors, written 488 posts, had 4,000 comments, was featured on several other blogs (including The Graphics Fairy). For the first time, I posted more in another category than I did about food. Due to our move this summer, deocrating and creating were my two most posted categories. What do you think, time to balance it back out?

Did your favorite post make the cut? What one was you favorite?

Please excuse the sparse postings in April. I started off super strong the first week, but I completely over did it while landscaping over my Easter break. I hurt my back… really really bad 😦 So I’ve been out of comission.

Today is my one best friend’s birthday. One year we did a wine tour in NY at the Finger Lakes. The first time I ever had Red Cat was at the Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard & Winery. It was towards the end of our tour on a cold and muddy November Day, but it was still a blast! After sampling wines inside, we ended out at the tent drinking Red Cat slushies. I still have my plastic, color-changing cup and think about that day every time I use it.

You can get a slushie at the winery or make them at home…

Red Cat Slushie Recipe from Hazlitt’s Winery

In a standard counter top blender combine.
375 ml of Hazlitt Red Cat (about 1/2 bottle or adjust to your liking)
1/4 cup confectioners’ (powdered) sugar
2 oz. Frozen Fruit Punch concentrate
Ice (fill to blender top)

Happy Birthday Mrs. H!!! I hope you don’t mind me posting this pic! XOXO

Remember these monster dolls I made for my nephew’s 1st birthday last year? Now he is turning two! And what my Little Monster deserves is more monsters for his collection. I found these cute monster (rubber duck type) bath toys and knew immediately they’d be perfect with this present. My MIL lent me her sewing machine (mine’s still out of commission) and I stitched together these cuties. They’re not finished yet, I need to pick up some embroidery thread to finish the eyes (in place of the pennies), make mouths and other facial features…

I’ll take a picture when they’re done and update my post afterwards. For now, I’m away for the weekend and tomorrow’s post won’t be until later in the evening… hopefully. I already have other new monster ideas for future projects… I already have most of the materials. I love to craft, however I never feel like I have the time.

Do you have any special little monsters in your life?

Steak ala Hubster
Last week was Hubster’s birthday, and his birthday dinner is the obvious choice… Since I don’t make red meat for him often, it’s time for him to get (the cliché) slab of juicy steak…

Steak ala Hubster

Steak ala Hubster

Ingredients:
Steaks, paprika, olive oil, fresh ground sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, yellow bell pepper, 1 c. chardonnay, 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. bleu cheese crumbles

Directions:
Rub down steak with olive oil and season with paprika, salt and pepper. Rub seasoning in, place in fridge and allow to sit overnight. Take steak out of fridge and bring to room temperature. Saute yellow peppers in butter over low heat, add wine and simmer. Broil or grill steak to your liking. Place steak on plate, top with peppers, drizzle with sauce and sprinkle bleu cheese crumbles.

Served with twice baked potato, glazed carrots and salad with ginger sesame dressing.

What is you favorite birthday dinner?

It has been one year today since Young Wifey’s Blog was created (See my first post here). Thank you to everyone who regularly reads my ramblings and thank you to those who take a peek.
