Every year, I prepare a formal coursed meal for our Valentine’s Day dinner. It’s a tradition I love…
First Course – Appetizer
Grilled Ginger Sesame Shrimp
Ingredients:
12 fresh shrimp, 3 Tbsp. fresh ground ginger, 1 Tbsp. sesame seed oil, 1 Tbsp. honey, 1 Tbsp. crushed red pepper, 1 tsp. sesame seeds, fresh ground sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper
Directions:
Soak wooden skewers in warm water, add a splash of lime juice.. Peel and devein shrimp. Mix together all ingredients in bowl. Allow shrimp to chill in marinade for an hour. Slip 3 or 4 shrimp on wooden skewers. Heat grill to medium. Add shrimp to grill, cooking 2 minutes on each side. Sprinkle with additional crushed red pepper and sesame seeds if desired.
What type of appetizers do you enjoy?
This makes me wish for summer! With a splash of lemon juice, I could see this coming off the grill, one hot day this summer… yum!
These are great anytime of year…
That is a great idea to do a formal dinner! I made something special as well (Hate going to restaurants on V-day..too crowded) I have some shrimp in my freezer, I think I am going to make this today!
Usually the weekend before Valentine’s Day we go to dinner at one particular place, the Indian restaurant we went to on our first date, when we celebrated my Master’s graduation and where we got engaged. That’s Hubster’s present to me. My present to him is the formal meal…
Glad you guys had a great evening! Enjoy your shrimp!
I love those little crab cakes!
Me too!
What a fabulous appetiser – I like the choice of flavours you use – think I would enjoy these for a main course too.
