I’m getting ready to start a poetry unit with my students, so I decided to share one of the poems I wrote for them last year.

Earth Day Tips

Recycle your items; paper, cans and glass,
Go sparingly, when you water the green grass.
Turn off your lights when not in use,
Cut back on waste, try to reduce.
Change all your faucets to low flow,
Take your shower quickly not slow.
When grocery shopping skip paper or plastic,
Get a reusable bag or small hand basket.
For fresh clean air plant some young trees,
And new flowers for honey bees.
Save gas and ride your bike in town,
And pick up litter from the ground.
Remember on earth, we’re not alone.

Four years ago today Hubster & I joined in matrimony. Individually we’re not perfect, but we’re perfect for one another. Today we will celebrate our anniversary with Pumpkin. Even though we became a family on day one, we like to focus on the day we officially became a family. Tomorrow, Hubster and I will celebrate ourselves.
Happy 4th Anniversary Hubster!

I am on my second sick day now, if these antibiotics don’t kick in soon, it’ll be a while until I have a real post. With no energy right now I took a few minutes to play on-line. I used Wordle to see my most used words this month….

Last week, I was playing around on Wordle and decided to create a fun word cloud for Spring. Today I decided to create one for Young Wifey’s Blog. These are some of the words I use most often. Word clouds are a beautiful way to display word list poetry.

The first full day of Spring is one of my favorite days of the entire year. As a celebration of this season, I sharing with you my newest seasonal poem.

Crocuses

Crocuses

Gradually the sun awakens the earth’s ground
Grass, leaves, and flowers are begun to be found

Flowers bloom and call for the gossiping bees
Above us grows the lush canopy of trees

The warm wind whispers to guide home the birds
Squirrels chatter each trying for the last word

The peepers sing out from the water at night
Spring enchanted as if by fairy or sprite

The fawns romp around and explore their new world
With vibrant daffodils, petals all curled

Young crocuses, cyclamen and  tulips dance
Weeping cherries blossom with budding romance

Rejuvenation, hope and calmness transcends
Springtime, a happy reunion of close friends

The changing of the seasons are my favorite times of the year. The changes reminds me why we’re alive and rejuvenates my senses, mind, body and soul. This is a fall list poem.

Fallen Leaves

Fallen Leaves

summer’s last lingering bloom
October’s Harvest Moon

birds migrating south
carmel apples in my mouth

ruby red leaves
golden yellow leaves
orange leaves
racking together leaves
during the crisp eves

jumping in leaf piles
children’s autumn smiles

kids are all in cahoots
jeans, fleece jackets and leather boots

apple orchards & hot apple cider
beautiful web with a spider

lost in a cornfield maze
crisp clear night, a star gaze
Heritage Days

community yard sales
corn stalks and hay bales

first frost, crunchy ground
wind in the trees, rustling sound
no natural joy left unfound

crisp cool, smokey air
Bloomsburg Fair
Halloween candy, plenty to share

pretend monsters moans
shrieks and groans
people begin wearing jewel tones

Autumn Trees

Autumn Trees

cutting firewood
trick-or treating round the hood

candy corn
foggy morn

basket weaving
Halloween & Thanksgiving
Autumn is the season to live in!

nippy nose
chilly toes
jack o’lanterns & scarecrows

pumpkin seeds roasting
marshmallows toasting

costume making
pumpkin pie baking

apple butter, apple dumpling
pumpkin patch & pumpkin picking

spiced wafers & chrysanthemums
bobbing for apples in large wooden drums

Hubster & Pumpkin Leaf Peeping at PA Grand Canyon

witches, goblins and ghouls,
kettle cooked soup in bread bowls

pomegranates, cranberries, munch, munch
walnuts, almonds, chestnuts, crunch, crunch
